Another bl**dy Diana headline

Another day, another Daily Express Diana headline.

This is getting ridiculous, we're barely past Easter and yet this must be the twentieth Diana headline since the start of the year. She died in September 1997, for God's sake!!!!!

Indeed.

I don't quite understand exactly why she has been portrayed by the media as some sort of Saint ever since her death. Either way, leave it alone already......

Re: Another bl**dy Diana headline

Don't get me wrong, I was genuinely sad when she died, but the way certain people cash in on her memory is completely disgraceful. I can only presume that the Daily Express enjoy some sort of sales spike whenever the 'D' word features in their front page headline.

Re: Another bl**dy Diana headline

If you can afford embossed toilet paper in soft gentle tones, you don't really need to get the Daily express, or any of the papers. because their desperately trying to add value to nothing, as the news was on the TV last night. and I'll repeat that again for UK Sun readers,  the news was on the TV last night smile and theres also enough in depth analysis on there to send you off soundly to sleep.

Anyway, if you wanna buy your toilet paper with a clear conscience buy this http://www.shitbegone.com/

Good grief blissed, how on earth did you find that site??!!

I take your point re the TV news coverage, but that hasnt stopped the likes of the Express and Mail living in their own little universes, detached from all sense and reality.

Thank God we don't have a British equivalent of Fox News (yet).

Interesting to see the Brits coming out in force for this thread.  The frightening thing Bish is that so many of our countrymen/women live in that little universe (and I know a lot of our transatlantic cousins have set up house next door).  Never mind.  I just long for the day when we have guilotines in Horseguards Parade.  Rivers of blue blood running down the Mall.  Ah, one can but dream smile.

So stop buying the right wing reactionary rag Bish!!!!

Actually I’m not such an anti-monarchist as I make out.  I think that as a system of government there is a lot to be said for a democratic monarchy.  An independent none elected head of state with the civil service, judiciary and military nominally answerable to them rather than to the elected government (and therefore to some degree independent of the political machine) makes for a fairly efficient system.  All of the Scandinavian democratic monarchies seem to function very well.  Its just all of the other parasitical crap that goes with the British monarchy that I hate.

How's that for old fashioned British socialism?

I don't, but a depressing number of my friends and colleagues do, which means there is always an issue close to hand.

Mind you, as Blissed pointed out it does have it's practical uses - to quote a certain Mr Blackadder (when describing 'King & Country' ironically) "Ah yes, without question my favourite publication; soft, strong and thoroughly absorbent."

Personly, I think the conservatives would learn a lot about the British Far Right approach.

At least you Brits are allowed to "see" Nudity.

Here in the states, Nudity is considered a Crime. And any image on TV is worth a hefty fine. Making us the laughing stock of the world.

I just got done watching the "Chronicles of Narnia" The Violence is enough to warrent a "R" rating. But here in the states, Violence is a yawn. But show a little Boob. Then its "R" from the get go.

If the Far right or Far left is offended by the TV\Console games, etc. Shut it off.
Don't force your opinion on others.

Oh, I forgot to mention. In the States we Have Saint "willy", And the wicked witch of the East. Along with President "Scarecrow" and Vice president, "Tin Man".

So your not the only one with "media saints or demons".

I just can't believe those rags aren't headlining Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' baby. Don't they understand what we all really care about?!

On a subject which (if I remember rightly) is as close to your heart as it is to mine msn didn't some of your countrymen attempt to have fantasy role playing banned a while ago because they beleived it to be satanic? (Because of the presence of goblins and demons of various sorts in it).

Re: Another bl**dy Diana headline

Yes, as a Child my Dad forced me to watch "Mazes and Monsters". And then tried to "burn" my RPG's. (He only burnt the outdated books. smile)

(Which seemed to me to be stupid. I was allowed to watch any movie I wanted as long as it was "R" or less. Fantasy, Horror, War, Porky's. etc. But fear the "fantasy text Book". Well he was partially right about the ouija board. Which is far different then any "AD&D" I have ever seen)
